The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) is looking for a COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT based in its Brussels office

The EMHRN is looking for a committed, dynamic and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) savvy Communication Assistant to strengthen its communication work. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong capabilities in website administration and development. He/she is social media proficient, comfortable with a variety of communication tools as well as with design softwares. The position is based in Brussels, Belgium.
BACKGROUND
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) is a network of more than 80 human rights organizations in 30 countries. Its mission is to promote and strengthen human rights and democratic reform within Euro-Mediterranean relations, the European Neighbourhood Policy and other EU- Arab cooperation frameworks. The Network seeks to develop and strengthen partnerships between NGOs in the Euro-Med region, disseminate human rights values and increase members’ capacity in this regard (see also www.euromedrights.org). EMHRN headquarters are in Copenhagen, and it has offices in Brussels, Paris, Tunis and Amman.


THE JOB
As the EMHRN Communication Assistant, you will report to the Communication Director while working in close cooperation with the rest of the Communication team. You will be responsible for the administration and development (content-wise) of the EMHRN website, the development of EMRHN’s presence on the social media and the technical follow up on the EMHRN contact data base. You will be involved in the production and distribution of EMHRN internal and external communication materials, and you will also assist with the design, lay-out, translation and promotion of EMHRN publications.

CONTRACT
Start of assignment: as soon as possible in July 2014
Contract: time-unlimited contract (under Belgian law)
Location: EMHRN office, Brussels, Belgium
Salary: based on EMHRN salary scale for Brussels-based staff providing for a competitive remuneration package including pension scheme, insurance scheme, lunch vouchers and 30 days annual leave (20 days Belgian legal holidays and 10 conventional days).

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • minimum a university degree in communication, journalism, information technology or related fields, with a relevant work experience of minimum 1-2 years.
  • The use of ICT, with strong skills of website content management and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter);
  • Design and lay-out of documents and publications, use of professional design software for that purpose (InDesign, etc.).
  • Proven record on CMS-fluency (WordPress a plus)
  • Proven records on social media use
  • Command of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience in database management
  • Creative, with an eye for visual design and ability to produce engaging/impacting communication materia
  • Excellent English and French (both written and spoken)
