The Specialist will report to the Team Lead and will be responsible for assessment research in Algeria, Morocco, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, and Tunisia. The assignment would commence in February or March 2015.

Job Summary:

GRI is recruiting for an experienced Gender and Governance Specialist to participate in an anticipated three-month UN Women assessment of women’s participation in national legislatures in the Middle East. The Specialist will report to the Team Lead and will be responsible for assessment research in Algeria, Morocco, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, and Tunisia. The assignment would commence in February or March 2015.

This position in open to residents of Algeria, Morocco, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, or Tunisia only.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • MA required, PhD preferred
  • Ten (10) years experience with women’s participation in the governance sector
  • Experience conducting assessments of gender in the governance sector
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative research methodology
  • Experience in the Middle East required
  • Prior experience working on UN programs preferred
  • High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
  • Self-motivated and well organized
  • Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in English, French, and Arabic required
