Impunity Watch (IW) is a non-profit human rights organisation (www.impunitywatch.org) which researches the root causes of impunity for serious crimes under international law, as well as the obstacles to its reduction. IW advocates for the voices of affected individuals and communities to be meaningfully included in the design and implementation of policies that advance victims’ rights for truth, justice, reparations, as well as guarantees of non-recurrence. We promote local actors’ active involvement in transformation after violence and abuses, and we also support informal initiatives that complement formal
transitional justice mechanisms.

The Programme Associate will contribute to the development and execution of the organisation’s programmes in Tunisia and contribute to the overall work of the MENA team in the region.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Undertake logistical and administrative responsibility for implementing programmes and activities in Tunisia and elsewhere in the region, in close consultation with the rest of the team.
  • Assist in research and political monitoring in relation to IW’s programmes.
  • Assist in the identification of new initiatives and partners to support or work with in Tunisia
  • Assist in the coordination with, institutions, consultants and experts from MENA and from outside the region
  • Assist with the development of media material on the programme including for the organisation’s website and its social media accounts.
  • Perform other tasks assigned that are consistent with the overall position

Critères d'éligibilité

  • University degree in law, journalism, political and social sciences, or related studies
  • Fluency in Arabic. Proficiency in English and/or French is desirable.
  • Two years of work preferred.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Previous experience organizing activities (workshops, conferences) and managing logistics
  • Strong attention to detail including in document preparation and editing.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of human rights and civil society issues as well as transitional justice developments in Tunisia, and elsewhere in the MENA region.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-changing environment.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and international team.
  • Enjoying team work and assisting colleagues
