About the Job:

Working in over 30 countries, Islamic Relief Worldwide promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. We also respond to disasters and emergencies, helping people in crisis.
Islamic Relief provides support regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender and without expecting anything in return. Islamic Relief has been working in Tunisia since 2011, when we supported refugees fleeing violence in Libya as well as host Tunisian communities. Since registering our office in Tunisia in 2012, we have set up and managed camps on the Tunisian border and provided humanitarian services to over 15,000 people. As the camp was wound down, we helped refugees unable to return to Libya to build new lives in Tunisia.
As well as supporting refugees, Islamic Relief has implemented projects in health, water and sanitation, food security, education – as well as schemes enabling poor families to earn a decent living. We also support capacity building of local associations in the country.
The current project consists on promoting good hygiene practices among students and improving sanitation Practices in rural areas for the benefit of more than 10267 students representing 34 schools within 19 governorates all over Tunisia. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Scope of the Role: 

The project Assistant under the supervision of the project Officer will participate in conducting Hygiene Promotion campaigns, community mobilization, and behavioral change monitoring in the targeted schools during the lifetime of the project.
In this regard, the Project Assistant Will contributes to the promotion and maintaining of hygienic and sanitation conditions in project targeted schools settings through Systematically Writing field visit Reports & coordination meeting with School directors and Local Community.
Including work closely with the team in the assessments of personal and environmental hygiene Activities, He /She will Insure the Follow up Of Hygiene Promotion campaigns, community mobilization Activities such as the establishment of School Clubs in the 34 targeted schools during the lifetime of the project.
The project assistant will maintain impartiality and neutrality in dealing with all stakeholders. He/shewill assist and participate in executing tasks that are directly focusing on Reporting & Follow up of hygiene awareness campaigns. This will also include the community mobilization, the collection of population data, baseline data, and KAP surveys.
The Project assistant reports directly to the project Office rand Work closely with the Community Development Agent to insure best project implementation.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Education or equivalent training/experience in related field (such as water and sanitation, public health, hygiene promotion). 
  • • Minimum of two (2) years’ practical work experience working with vulnerable communities in the field of water/sanitation, WASH, hygiene or public health. 
  • • Ability to communicate and write reports in Arabic, French and English.
  • • Familiarity with key health and hygiene issues and hygiene promotion/education activities in schools
  • • A good level of English 
  • • Proven experience in community mobilization, training and /or teaching. 
  • • Experience of working with Non-Governmental Organizations desirable. 
  • • Deep Understanding of age, gender and diversity issues with regard to WASH Knowledge of minimum WASH standards (e.g. Sphere).
  • • Strong organizational skills 
  • • Cultural sensitivity (e.g. to age, gender and diversity) and experience working in schools
  • • Flexibility and creativity 
  • • Ability to prioritize large and changeable workloads 
  • • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team, including team management 
  • • Able to work independently and energetically
  • A high level of spoken and written Arabic, French and English is essential.
