SUMMARY OF POSITION

IREX seeks a Deputy Chief of Party to assist in managing a USAID-funded Egypt Higher Education Partnerships Program. The program seeks to strengthen Egyptian higher education institutions and enhance their ability to develop a globally competitive Egyptian workforce by supporting 15 to 20 partnerships between universities, technical colleges, and the private sector in Egypt and the United States, and to provide technical assistance to the Egyptian public higher education system. The Deputy Chief of Party will be responsible for day‐to‐day project management, including management of staff, activities and sub‐awards and oversight of monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the COP in overseeing all components of the program and day-to-day operations of the program
  • Provide technical expertise in Egypt’s higher education sector and manage relationships with Egyptian education institutions and the Egyptian private sector
  • Assist the COP in monitoring, evaluation and reporting functions
  • Develop and maintain effective collaborations with program partners and key stakeholders
  • Oversee financial, sub-granting, and administrative functions, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities, and management of program staff

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field from an internationally recognized university
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively more responsible experience managing higher education and/or human and institutional capacity development projects
  • In-depth knowledge of the Egyptian education sector
  • Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders, such as teachers, administrators, trainers, and host government counterparts
  • Demonstrated experience in contract and grants management
  • Excellent management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English and Arabic required
