Organizational Context and Scope:

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN organization in the field of migration works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (CoM), and direct supervision of the project manager for the relevant operational unit within IOM Tunisia, the national project officer will support MOBI-TRE Project Manager in the design and implementation of MOBI-TRE in Tunisia and Italy.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be called to :

  • Identify coaching gaps in the Tunisian entrepreneurship ecosystem and suggest potential partners;
  • Develop the implementation strategies to ensure timely implementation of the project (project call for proposals, selection and coaching);
  • Ensure the monitoring of project progress and pro-actively suggest solutions;
  • Assess coaching needs for the projects selected and potential service providers based on their track records;
  • Manage the organization of information sessions on call for proposals in Tunisia and abroad in coordination with stakeholders from the public, private sector and NGOs;
  • Establish strong relationships with the public sector and coordinate with the selected beneficiaries to ensure smooth project development;
  • Ensure continuous watch on entrepreneurship programs in Tunisia and all news regarding entrepreneurship in Tunisia;
  • Represent IOM at relevant seminars and meetings, as well as other events aimed at promoting IOM’s image and activities, as required;
  • Undertake site visits and duty travel as required by the project implementation, liaison with counterparts, problem solving, and adaptation of activities to the different operational contexts as required;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

  • Strategic thinking & vision : Works strategically to realize the Organization’s goals and communicates a clear strategic direction.
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline from an accredited academic institution, with at least two (2) years of work experience; or a Bachelor in the above fields from an accredited institution with at least four (4) years of work experience in the field;
  • Good knowledge of the Tunisian tax framework;
  • Proven knowledge of the legal framework to establish a business and expand it;
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government counterparts, non-governmental organizations as well as the private sector;
  • Delivers on set objectives in high-pressure situations;
  • Effectively coordinates actions with other implementing partners;
  • Works effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance country office or regional objectives;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in French and Arabic;
  • A good command of English would be a plus. Posting period:
