Context:
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Logistics/Fleet Assistant for technical and day to day duties, the incumbent will be responsible for driving IOM vehicles to transport persons and goods authorized by IOM, from one destination to another in a timely, safe and cost effective manner. The incumbent will perform the following functions:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Drive the vehicle assigned to the Chief of Mission and other parts of the mission as may be required.
- Liaise with the Executive Assistant on daily basis and regularly (throughout the day) to know the Chief of Mission’s schedules and priorities. - Familiarize with the location and venue of IOM Libya in Tunis Office meetings and destinations in advance so as to ensure the Chief of Mission gets there timely/punctually.
- Drive the Chief of Mission IOM Libya Office on field trips within in Tunisia and into the neighboring countries as required.
- Follow up every day of the chief of mission schedule using Outlook, with the Executive Assistant for the Chief of Mission, calendar and arrange any transportation requests.
- Assist officials at the Airport VIP arrival/departure and facilitate Immigration/Customs formalities.
- Be willing and prepared to work at night or in the weekends as requested, on regular basis.
- Ensure that the Chief of Mission IOM Libya (in Tunis) Office vehicle is mechanically safe for driving and keep tracks for the periodic maintenance and to report any problems sighted as soon as possible. Preparation of travel logs for the Chief of Mission.
- Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness before departure. This includes daily check of tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, etc. Maintain the vehicle road log sheet including the fuel status and oil changing at all times.
- Fill in the Log sheet of vehicle status and share with the immediate supervisor. Report promptly any defects or malfunctioning of the vehicle that requires immediate attention to the immediate supervisor.
- Ensure that in case of accident, the supervisors are informed and a police report is obtained. In no case should the Senior Driver accept responsibility.
- Ensure the safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle and observe traffic rules and road discipline.
- Ensure that the IOM vehicle is only used for official/authorized work.
- Follow the rules and regulations of driving IOM vehicles at all times. Ensure cleanliness of the vehicle at all times, refuel the vehicle as required.
- Ensure that the keys are returned for safeguarding at the end of the shift or handed over to the next driver.
