Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Protection Officer and the overall supervisor of the Chief of mission, the successful candidate will provide specialized assistance to the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of IOM Libya protection projects.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of protection projects in a timely manner, collaborating constructively with the Program Manager in carrying out all its financial, administrative and technical aspects, in line with IOM’s policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the timely implementation of the project activities.
  • Support the liaison with Government entities, Embassies, implementing partners, UN agencies and other stakeholders in the project’s target countries.
  • Support communication and visibility actions of the project.
  • Organize events, meetings and trainings with beneficiaries, civil society organizations, NGOs, embassies and all other relevant stakeholders with the aim to promote Protection project activities and disseminate its results.
  • Design and prepare training materials, case studies exercises accordingly.
  • Draft narrative reports for donors.
  • Monitoring expenditures and preparing financial reports for the donor.
  • Reporting and support the information exchange on all operational aspects of the project between IOM, the programme’s donors and other stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain project records and files.
  • Provide status report to the program manager as to the progress of the assigned projects identifying shortfalls in delivery and making recommendations for issues / challenges encountered.
  • Coordinate, communicate and liaise with the government counterparts, private and public organizations and consultants for the implementation of the projects.
  • Compile, summarize and present information/data on specific project related topics.
  • Provide periodic inputs for the preparation of project related periodic progress reports and final project reports for IOM and donors.
  • Support technical assessments, studies and researches by participation, coordination and follow up as required.
  • Provide assistance for the production of information and visibility material, including drafting of contents for brochures, web sites, newsletters, leaflets.
  • Draft in, or translate from English to Arabic and Arabic to English correspondence, statements and speeches and other public information material.
  • Undertake in-country duty travel related to program/ project monitoring, assessment and problem-solving, as requested.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Law and/or International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution the above fields with three (03) years of relevant professional experience
  • High School Certificate in with five (05) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Fluency in English
  • Working knowledge of Arabic and French an advantage
