Tunisia –Gender & Reparations Officer

ICTJ is seeking applications from competent professionals to fill the following full-time position for its Tunisia Office. The position will be based in Tunis. Contract details will be discussed with short-listed candidates only. The position will report to the Head of Office ICTJ-Tunisia.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Gender & Reparations Officer will be part of a highly efficient and motivated team. This position will be involved in programme development; co-ordination of trial monitoring initiatives to assess victim participation to the legal proceedings, strategic workshops and consultations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to strategy development and project design in support of ICTJ’s work on transitional justice in Tunisia, with a specific focus on Gender & Reparations.
  •  Coordinate and consult with ICTJ experts at Headquarters in the design and implementation of the project activities.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with local civil society and authorities in strengthening local initiatives in the Gender & Reparations field, and coordinate with civil society, victims and other stakeholders throughout the country, for the purposes of information-sharing, designing and implementing activities, monitoring and
    reporting.
  •  Support the design and implementation of program activities on Gender & Reparations
    as required, including through travel to the regions.
  •  Coordinate and otherwise support monitoring, research and analysis of Gender & Reparations issues in Tunisia.
  • Contribute to drafting ICTJ external documentation including policy briefs, research reports and media statements.
  • Support timely completion of internal progress reports and donor reports as required.
  •  In coordination with the Head of Office, supervise and manage the work of external consultants on specific projects as requested.
  •  Participate in ICTJ’s other aspect of work in Tunisia, as requested.

All responsibilities listed above will be performed under the supervision and direction
of the ICTJ-Tunisia Head of Office.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • A minimum of 3 years working in the field of gender justice, reparations or more generally, human rights or transitional justice, preferably as a legal officer in an institution or non-government organization working in Tunisia or elsewhere in the Middle East and/or North Africa region
  • Experience working with or representing victims of human rights violations an advantage.
  • A Master’s degree in law preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts and key developments relating to the transitional justice process in Tunisia, including the issues and challenges involved in addressing gender concerns and the different forms of reparations within that process
  • Clear understanding of victims’ rights and the social, economic, and political challenges facing the fulfillment of them
  • Experience in running workshops to build the capacity and skills of participants
  • Proven ability to conduct legal analysis.
  • Fluent in oral and written Arabic, English and French.
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast- paced working environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to details.
  • Flexible and committed to teamwork.
