Position Title: Intern – Project Support – Migration and Development
Duty Station: Tunis, Tunisia (Home based)
Type of Appointment: 6 months
Estimated Starting Date: As soon as possible

 

Organizational Context and Scope:

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and nongovernmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission, the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Project Manager, in close collaboration with the Project Officer, the incumbent will be tasked to assist the development, delivery and reporting of programme activities on migration and development.

Core functions/Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the migration and development unit in the organization of meetings, workshops, conferences, trainings and similar, including in arranging logistical, reporting, communication and visibility details and follow-up with other needed arrangements;
  • Assist team on conceptualising, designing and implementing awareness raising, information and sensitization and related activities targeting migrants and hosts communities and civil society organisations;
  • Provide support in the drafting of a migrant community database, to establish a solid network of civil society organizations, associations and institutional partners both at a country level and an international one;
  • Provide support the drafting of project-related communication material, including correspondence, letters, minutes of meetings, NFFs, memos, reports, briefing notes, graphic and statistical summaries, factsheets and other informational material, contact and partners lists, etc.;
  • Provide support administrative tasks linked to the implementation of the project and of the activities of the mission;
  • Provide support in translating project related documents;
  • Provide support in the coordination and timely submission of regular updates,
    reports and briefings on the project activities;
  • Perform site visits if required;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • A recent graduate preferably with an advanced university degree from an accredited academic institution in Development, Social, Economic or Political Sciences, Law;
  • Demonstrated interest in working in international organizations;
  • Strong interest in migration, integration of migrants and social cohesion;
  • Strong commitment to human rights principles, diversity and non-discrimination;
  • Able to adapt to an international, multicultural, multilingual environment;
  • Excellent writing and organizational ability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills, especially in MS Office, Excellent writing and organizational skills with flexible approach to a wide range of duties and to meet deadlines;
  • Sound knowledge of project implementation, financial and administrative management skills are an advantage;
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills and able to work in a team.
  • Full fluency in written and spoken French is required; fluency in English is an advantage; knowledge of spoken Arabic will be an asset.
  • The internship is open to candidates of any nationality. Only local candidates are eligible. International graduates residing in Tunisia are encouraged to apply.
