Title: Finance Assistant

Base: Tunis, Tunisia 

Reporting to: Deputy Finance Manager

Description: The Finance Assistant will provide administrative and reporting support to the Finance Manager, in the form of assisting in the day-to-day financial operations of IWPR’s programming.

Managing: N/A

Project: Building the capacity of emerging broadcast media, informal and social media, and print media in Libya

Contract Type: Short Term consultancy contract

Contract duration: Short Term consultancy contract of twelve (12) months-Possibility to extend

Nationality: all nationalities

Remuneration: attractive remuneration according to the profile

Starting date: September 10, 2015

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the petty cash system including reconciling on a daily or weekly basis;
  • Organize all expenditure transactions on a daily basis to ensure completeness, follow authority matrix and assist with payments as necessary;
  • Assist with banking duties as assigned by the Deputy Finance Manager;
  • Process transactions on the FOMER or QuickBooks;
  • Assist with monthly financial packet preparation to Headquarters, inclusive of cash counts, reconciliations, and other needed documents;
  • Assist the Deputy Finance Manager to liaise with Libyan media partners as needed;
  • Assist Finance Manager with any other day-to-day financial activities as needed.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Approved accountancy qualification
  • Minimum 1 year accounting experience at national or international level
  • Experience with project budgets
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks would be a strong advantage
  • Experience of working in a finance function for an NGO with a background in United States grants and contracts is preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations relating to NGOs and foreign organizations in Tunisia and Libya would be a strong advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including good written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Excellent report-writing skills
  • Proficiency in computers, software, spreadsheet and finance management packages
