The IFES Tunisia program aims to strengthen the capacity of electoral institutions to administer credible elections that reflect the will of the people; better inform youth and marginalized communities about elections and democracy; encourage youth civic engagement and promote meaningful participation of all citizens in their political systems, including women, youth and other traditionally marginalized groups, such as illiterate voters and persons with disabilities.
IFES has been providing support to the High Independent Election Commission (ISIE) of Tunisia on several aspects of the 6 October parliamentary elections and 17 November Presidential elections, including public outreach, training, campaign finance oversight and communication.
IFES currently seeks to recruit a media monitoring coordinator who support the ISIE in monitoring the print and electronic press. The local media coordinator will cooperate closely with the ISIE media monitoring unit and the IFES international media monitoring adviser. The media monitoring aims to promote an even playing field for candidate lists and presidential candidates in the run up to the 2019 legislative and presidential elections.
In close coordination with the ISIE and IFES media monitoring adviser, the local Media Monitoring Coordinator will undertake the following responsibilities for both the 2019 legislative and presidential elections:
This position is based in Tunis. The contract will be a short-term but full-time consultancy contract. The assignment will start on August 15 and will end in February 2020 after the closing of the Media Monitoring Unit.
