Head of Communications 

Job Description 

The goal of the Position:  

  • Develop, implement, track and evaluate internal and external communication strategy with the program and other departments collaborators, partners, donors; Lead the efforts to execute the communications and production strategy, provide outreach impact reports and advice to improve the communication efforts within the organization. 

Role:  

  • Manage, motivate, and train communication team members. 
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the Communication and Production Departments. 
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of members following the organization policy. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Ensures compliance of activities with project communication strategy by following donor and WeYouth Organization guidelines.  
  • Develops key promotional messages in consultation with the project team.   
  • Participates in developing and evaluating feasibility, efficiency, and quality of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials.  
  • Coordinates and oversees communication activities and events of the projects and activities.  
  • Draft analytical reports, official communication statements and project success stories in collaboration with the organization staff members
  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and media institutions and represent the organization at events as required. 
  • Assist in conducting awareness-raising campaigns, events, information dissemination workshops, etc. for target groups.   
  • Undertakes sporadic field visits to monitor program implementation and liaise closely with target groups.  
  • Participates in donor visits for showcasing project progress and achievements.
  • Take lead in the dissemination of communication materials to relevant stakeholders.
  • Draft case studies and relevant project documents and suggest recommendations on varied issues (as and when required).
  • Maintain documentation management system (hard copy and on the network).
  • Ensuring that digital marketing content aligns with the organization’s brand identity and message.  
  • Lead the communication department member’s efforts towards a quality implementation of the communication strategy and plan of the organization.    
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in external communication, Digital Marketing; applies this knowledge to communicate policy, practice, and resources changes to upper management.  
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for communication and production departments and other staff team members.  
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:  

  • At least two years of progressive experience in strategic communications, marketing, production or public relations, or related experience in a professional and voluntary environment. 
  • Experience managing digital content 
  • Experience in strategic communications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies 
  • Understanding of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing 
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, HTML coding, and digital graphics production 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media marketing 
  • Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Facebook Ads 
  • Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities 
  • Strong leadership track record 
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills 
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related discipline 
  • Established media relations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Outlook

Time Commitment:  

  •  8 hours a day, 40 hours a week, 5 days a week.  

Site:  

  • WeYouth Organization HQ, Communication Department Office 
  • On activities sites across Tunisia.  

Supervision/Training:  

  • Monthly supervision/training groups are provided by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.  
  • Individual meetings with the Executive Director when necessary.  
  • External growth and training opportunities when possible.
