Context:  

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and  communications to help reduce poverty, address development goals, and support people to  understand their rights. We do this through partnering with media, civil society, and others to  produce creative programmes and other outputs which inform and engage audiences on key  development issues. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity  and infrastructure of local media organisations in the countries in which we work.  

Our North Africa operations are based in Tunis. From here we deliver a portfolio of media projects in  Tunisia, Libya and Algeria, and work to ensure they are delivered on time, to the highest possible  standard, and in accordance with BBC editorial values and BBC Media Action best practice. 

Objective  

BBC Media Action is looking to engage the services of a talented and experienced Freelance Video  Editor capable of editing and finalizing high-quality videos. The ideal candidate will have a strong  portfolio demonstrating proficiency in video editing and post-production, with a keen eye for detail  and creativity. The role involves working with provided rushes, collaborating with trainees on their  production projects, and assisting them in finalizing their videos. The ability to communicate  eƯectively in Arabic, French, and English is essential, along with the flexibility to travel to Algeria  and availability during September.  

Eligibility Criteria: 

Required: 

 Proven experience as a Video Editor, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality work. 

 Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar. 

 Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and editing techniques.  

 Ability to work with raw footage (rushes), adding eƯects, transitions, and audio to produce  polished videos.  

 Experience in working closely with trainees to help them develop and finalize their video  projects.  

 Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring all videos meet the highest standards of quality. 

 Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

 Strong communication skills in Arabic, French, and English.  

 Ability to work eƯectively within a team environment. 

 Ability to travel to Algeria as required.  

 Availability during September.  

Preferred: 

 Experience in editing videos for media projects, advertising, or social media content. 

 Previous work experience with NGOs.  

 Knowledge of color grading, sound editing, and motion graphics.  

 Experience working in a fast-paced, international environment.
