Established in 1984 in the UK, Islamic Relief is an international NGO seeking to promote sustainable economic
and social development by working with local communities through relief and development activities.
Islamic Relief provides support regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender and without expecting anything in
return. Islamic Relief has been working in Tunisia since 2011, when we supported refugees fleeing violence in
Libya as well as host Tunisian communities primarily as a response to the influx of refugees during the Libya
Crisis. Since registering an office in Tunisia in 2012, Islamic Relief has set up and managed camps on the
Tunisian border and provided humanitarian services to over 15,000. As well as supporting refugees Islamic
Relief has implemented projects in health, water and sanitation, food security and education sectors as well as
supporting capacity building of local associations
. PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT:
Responsible for day-to-day accounting functions and comply with the IR financial guidelines and reporting to the management. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Overall purpose
Responsibilities and scope of duties
· To ensure the development of an efficient, clear and transparent Finance
Department in Tunisia.
· Responsible for the creation, planning, coordination, day to day financial management, reporting and development of the IR Tunisia finance related operation.
Specific goals and related activities KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for maintaining cash book and reconciling cash on daily basis
· Ensuring that IR Tunisia adheres to local income tax regulations and calculating payroll tax, social insurance etc on monthly basis
· Maintaining and developing controls over all advances paid to staff
· Maintaining a fixed asset for IR Tunisia in accounting system in coordination with Admin staff
· Preparing accounting vouchers and cross checking against budgets, investigating and reporting to HOM and Finance Coordinator on any variations in projections and working to resolve.
· Supporting the Program staff in distributions and stock records/ counts etc.
· Ensure financial understanding and ensuring the accurateness and completeness of data entered.
· Prepare weekly / monthly reports for IRW and donors
· Record project wise income and expenditure transactions on daily basis
· Scrutinizing of invoices in coordination with HOM / program and tag it to the right project
· Record transfers from IRW and other bodies. Arrange cash flow for the projects
· Ensure Bank reconciliations are done on monthly basis · Any other reasonable duties assigned by your line manager. PERSON SPECIFICATION:
It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief Worldwide vision and mission. Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance
Qualified Accountant with a thorough practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques.
2. The ability to work as a team.
3. High degree of communication skills, particularly attuned to working well with non-finance professionals and volunteers
4. Used to working in fast moving environments providing accurate and timely information to a high standard
5. Experience and understanding of NGO accounting
6. Ability to think strategically.
7. Good computer literacy skills.
8. Ability to adapt to new situations and needs.
9. Disposition of a team player.
10. To work under pressure and prioritize effectively.
