Search in Tunisia

SFCG’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. SFCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. SFCG-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, SFCG-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives:

  • Promoting Peace Education;
  • Fostering non-violent social dialogue;
  • Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and
  • Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia.

We are searching for…

Search is implementing a new project in Tunisia, intending to strengthen protection mechanisms and alternatives to detention for youth in the Kasserine and Kairouan Governorates.

The project aims to assess the level of awareness of young people and residents of the target zones to the physical and moral protection of children and minors, inclusive dialogue processes, subgrants to CSOs, and public awareness campaigns to promote an inclusive and constructive approach of legal protection for youth and minors.

Based in Kasserine reporting to Search Project Manager and Project Coordinator, S/he will lead liaising with relevant local partners and key stakeholders in the different project locations. S/he will also assist the preparation and implementation of program activities, in coordinating activities led by the project’s local civil society partners, and for preparing activity and reports for the team.

This position requires frequent travel to project locations to maintain regular contact with key local stakeholders and ensure a smooth implementation of program activities.

Your contribution

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure progress on all activities, including research activities, liaising with key local stakeholders, project partners and possible external consultants.
  • Maintain effective communication systems and ensure information flow between projects and relevant parties and partners.
  • Conduct regular field visits, attending different project activities to ensure their quality, and communicating with the key local stakeholders
  • Participate in regular coordination meetings with project team and facilitate local civil society partners’ coordination meetings.
  • Arrange necessary logistics for the activities of the project, such as workshops and trainings e.g. organize accommodation for participants, photocopy of materials, arrange transport, etc.
  • Assist the project team with other tasks as needed.

Please note that the position is based in Kasserine.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties

Duration:

initial 6 month contract (CDD), extendable, with immediate start date.

شروط الترشّح

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, conflict resolution, project management or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of INGO or CSO experience in project implementation or management in Tunisia or outside of the country.
  • Demonstrated experience working with local partners
  • Written and oral proficiency in Arabic and French
  • Strong and proven ability in report writing in French and English
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office and Excel)
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peace building and youth related topics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders, as well as the ability to build and conduct effective professional working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, often challenging environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work through stringent deadlines with attention to detail
  • the ability to manage time effectively
  • Flexibility and capacity to adapt to evolving contexts
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate with colleagues in an open and constructive way
