Job Title: Technical Writer and Editor Project: Tunisia Resilience and Community Empowerment (TRACE) Location: Tunis, Tunisia

FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Technical Writer and Editor for the organization’s USAID Tunisia Resilience and Community Empowerment (TRACE) program, which will increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks by achieving the objectives of: 1) strengthened community resilience, 2) mitigated community vulnerabilities, and 3) improved capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model. TRACE will spur 30 of Tunisia’s most vulnerable communities to action and generate sustainable resources for development in areas that are vulnerable to instability and violent extremism (VE). Together with USAID/Tunisia’s programs in accountability, decentralization, and youth entrepreneurship (i.e., TADAEEM and Mashrou3i), TRACE will consolidate democratic progress while fostering social cohesion in target areas.

Job Summary Under the supervision of the Communications Specialist, the Technical Writer and Editor will oversee the technical writing and editorial review of all program materials and work with program staff to proofread, edit, and provide clarity for staff external outputs. S/he will report to the Communications Specialist on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (ME&L) Team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist to play a key role in the development, writing, and production of regular reports to USAID, working closely with the Chief of Party and all technical and administrative staff;
  • Provide technical writing and editorial review of all program materials in a quick, efficient manner (program briefs, reporting requirements, conference documents, technical abstracts and materials, presentations, journal articles, technical reports, and public information materials);
  • Proofread, edit, and provide clarity for staff external outputs;
  • Check that all program materials are responsive/compliant, sound, internally consistent, and appropriately address all reporting and procurement requirements;
  • Review drafts of project materials to make recommendations to improve responsiveness/ compliance, organization, and clarity;
  • Prepare and assist with preparation, coordination, copyediting, and proofing of large and small reports and papers; as well as write-ups for USAID;
  • Compile news reports on program results, as requested;
  • Ensure document quality and branding as per USAID branding guidelines;
  • Work closely with program team members to cater writing style for program needs; and
  • Other duties as may be provided by the Communications Specialist and/or the Chief of Party.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BS/BA or its International Equivalent in journalism, communications, public relations, international relations, social sciences, or a related field;
  • Minimum seven years of professional editing/writing experience or an advanced degree with at least three years of professional editing/writing experience;
  • Experience working and/or writing under USAID programs preferred;
  • Fluency in English, French, and Arabic required;
  • Excellent and proven writing and verbal skills in English, French, and Arabic;
  • Advanced skills and experience with WordPress and HTML;
  • Excellent, organization skills and ability to function in a fast-paced setting;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines; Ability to quickly research and identify information with minimal to no supervision;
  • Flexibility, tact, and ability to work with diverse kinds of team members under tight deadlines;
  • Outstanding skills in persuasive writing and the ability to present technical ideas in a concise way; and
  • Familiarity with issues in positive youth development and community resilience is a plus.
