FHI 360 is currently recruiting for the position of Communications Specialist for the organization’s USAID Tunisia Resilience and Community Empowerment (TRACE) program, which will increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks by achieving the objectives of:

  1. strengthened community resilience,
  2. mitigated community vulnerabilities, and
  3. improved capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model.

TRACE will spur 30 of Tunisia’s most vulnerable communitie s to action and generate sustainable resources for development in areas that are vulnerable to instability and violent extremism (VE). Together with USAID/Tunisia’s programs in accountability, decentralization, and youth entrepreneurship (i.e., TADAEEM and Mashrou3i), TRACE will consolidate democratic progress while fostering social cohesion in target areas

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (ME&L) Advisor and as part of the ME&L Team, the Communications Specialist will oversee the development and implementation of a program communications strategy and will support program communications and visibility.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the ME&L Advisor to develop a program communications strategy, and work closely with USAID to adjust the strategy based on feedback and changing needs throughout the life of the program;
  • Play a key role in the development, writing, and production of regular reports to USAID, working closely with the Chief of Party and all technical and administrative staff;
  • Oversee maintenance and coordination of a planned TRACE Facebook group, posting regular updates and events;
  • Develop communications materials on program activities and results, coordinating closely with the ME&L and technical teams to draw on up-to-date information;
  • Present communication materials and program activities to public audiences, as necessary;
  • Support program visibility by planning and facilitating program events and US government visits, alongside the ME&L Advisor, Deputy Chief of Party, and Chief of Party;
  • Draft talking points and briefers on program activities for US government staff;
  • Train and provide technical assistance to regional staff and partners on media and communications strategies for community development activities;
  • Support local partners as needed to develop public speaking and communications training for youth and other community stakeholders; and
  • Supervise a Technical Writer & Editor.

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BS/BA or its International Equivalent in journalism, communications, public relations, international relations, social sciences, or a related field; Master's degree preferred;
  • At least ten years’ relevant professional experience with at least seven years in communications, journalism, or public relations role;
  • Experience working in an international NGO on US Government-funded activities is highly desirable;
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with partner organizations, staff, local stakeholders, and donors;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent and demonstrated organizational and presentation skills;
  • Good knowledge and experience on computers, office software packages, website and social media management;
  • Skills in graphic design, photo and video editing experience;
  • Fluent in written and oral Arabic, French, and English.
