Training in Design Thinking and Innovation 

Call for Expert Trainer

Project Overview:  

Ma3an is a five-year (2018-2023) youth-focused project – funded by the United States Agency for  International Development (USAID) that aims to increase youth participation in civic and political life,  address youth grievances, and prevent radicalization in vulnerable communities. Ma3an’s objectives are  to equip youth with the skills to engage in civic action to address their communities’ needs and grievances  through positive youth development (PYD) and enhance Tunisian capabilities to prevent and counter  violent extremism (P/CVE). 

Ma3an community support activity in Ksar:  

Ma3a project implementing a community support activity in Ksar, the intervention consists of the  efurbishment of the Thala youth center through the rehabilitation of an outdoor multidisciplinary  playground for women, rehabilitation and equipment of a street workout and outdoor gym field and a  multidisciplinary playground for sports events. Ma3an will also provide equipment for the indoor  multidisciplinary room and the cinema club and deliver training of trainers’ workshops for the Thala youth  center’s supervisors on the use of the web radio equipment, production, and podcasting.  

Ma3an is also committed to reduce gender inequality and social disparities in the region by integrating a  gender-equality approach in its work to ensure an equal access to opportunities for all target population  and each activity is tailored with needs of all groups in mind. 

Ma3an also providing trainings to make the intervention at the youth center more effective and useful for  the community. therefor Ma3an is providing training of trainer in design thinking and innovation for the  youth, youth center facilitator, CSO representative and local stakeholders. 

Required Expert Service:  

The expert will lead the development and facilitation of 3 days of design thinking and innovation training  in Thala.

Scope of Work (SoW):  

Ma3an will organize will organize 3 days design thinking and innovation training. The training target a  group of 15 to 20 participants. 

Objectives: 

1. Raise the awareness of audience about the design thinking and innovation Process and Methods  (Emphasize, Define Problem, Ideate, Prototype, Testing) 
2. Equip the audience with necessary tools to practice design thinking  
3. Show the How to the audience to address community problems using design thinking through  providing examples 

Target Audience:  

• 20 Youth between 18 to 29, youth center facilitators, Youth program inspector, CSO  representative and local stakeholders. 

Expected Deliverables: 

• Develop a rigorous methodology on workshops themes/subthemes, content, format, and type  of interaction with audience (Training Preferred to be delivered in Arabic or/and Tunisian  dialect).  
• Lead the implementation, coordination, and facilitation of the training sessions.

Level of Efforts (LoE)  

• 3 days 

Event Location:  

• Location: Gafsa, Thala youth center 
• 1 room with at least capacity of 30 pax.  

 Payment Terms  

• The contractor will be paid on a lump sum basis as per agreed per assignment.
