EXPERT TRAINER FOR WORKSHOP FOR LOCAL COY – WWF Retour vers les opportunités

CONTEXT:

Background 
From the very beginning, youth have been actively engaged at the Conferences of the Parties (COPs) which are organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In 2005, they formally gathered in Montreal ahead of COP11 to make their voices heard, thus creating the first Conference of Youth (COY). In 2009 during COP15, the UNFCCC secretariat and the member states to the Convention officially recognized youth as an observer constituency of its own (confirming the status in 2011), to represent the formal voice of Children and Youth in UNFCCC processes. The constituency is known as YOUNGO.
The Conference of Youth (COY) is an official event of YOUNGO. COY continues to involve children and youth from different sectors of society and areas of the world, with number growing steadily over the years. It is organized by the youth for the youth. Moreover, in 2015, the idea of COY started spreading around the world. Young people recognized the value of COYs, and got inspired to organize local COYs (LCOYs).
In 2017, a formal process has been set up within YOUNGO to endorse and empower youth and youth organizations to organize Regional and Local COYs.

OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

In the frame of Tunisian Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2020, WWF NA and FES FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG) recruit an expert trainer, to prepare and deliver a training course related to ‘Climate Change and the UNFCCC convention” following suggested i) programme and ii) methodological note.
The training course targets 40 young people from Tunisia who are active in the field of Climate Change.

SCOPE OF SERVICES;

The main training topics under this assignment will include but not limited to the following:

• Input on UNFCCC: framework, way from the start of the movement, negotiations, challenges,
• Where we are?
• Geopolitical context of the negotiations
• Role of youth / youth movement and mobilization (results achieved by YOUNGO and Friday4climate movement)
• Climate and energy policies in the Arab region (Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco): inputs from experts
• Evaluation of the current situation in terms of RE / Energy
• Lecture on the strategies and politics of Arab counties
• Challenges (social, economic, cultural, politic and environmental perspectives)

The trainer tasks are:

• To produce all needed material covering the below topics and training sessions as developed within the training course programme;
• Implement the training course following developed methodological note;
• Perform participatory didactics that maximize learning and exchange of experiences;
• Facilitate the training using appropriate animation techniques;
• Consider gender equality within preparation and implementation of the training course;
• Work closely with the project team to ensure all preparatory materials and training proceedings/ discussions are coherent and satisfactory;
• Apply suggested training course evaluation process;
• Deliver all developed training material and a training report within 10 days after training implementation;

The training language will be in French and English.

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The duration of the assignment is foreseen to be 4 expert/days as follows:

• Preparation:1 expert/days
• Implementation: 2 expert/days
• Reporting: 1 expert/day

The indicative starting date will be confirmed once the contract between FES FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG) and the trainer is signed.

LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The training course will be implemented in Hammamet in Tunisia & the specific locations will be confirmed later.

DELIVRABLES:

The expert will deliver:

All training content and material developed for each session that have to be:

• Delivered on soft copies (Mail transfer and CD master copy)
• Draft material shall be discussed and communicated sufficiently before the training
• All material and reports must comply with the visibility rules of the partners.

Final completion report in English language.

COPYRIGHT:

All rights of copyright concerning the material produced by consultant will remain the property of FES and can only be used by the expert with appropriate attribution by FES FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG).

PAYMENT TERMS:

The contract will be signed by our partner FES FRIEDRICH EBERT STIFTUNG) and the payments are based upon output, i.e. upon delivery of the services specified in the TOR. Payments will be issued upon certification of FES. It is foreseen that the contract value will be paid upon the submission and approval of the final training report and all required training materials. The transport and accommodation of the expert will be paid by FES.
