THE ORGANISATION:
Islamic Relief has been operating in Tunisia since 2011 primarily as a response to the influx of refugees during the Libya Crisis. Since registering an office in Tunisia in 2012, Islamic Relief has set up and managed camps on the Tunisian border and provided humanitarian services to over 15,000. As well as supporting refugees Islamic Relief has implemented projects in health, water and sanitation, food security and education sectors as well as supporting capacity building of local associations.
PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT:
The department supports the program activities to meet IR objectives; logistics is responsible for the management of the flow of resources, not only goods, between the point of origin and the point of destination in order to meet the requirements of the organization. Logistics involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging, and often security.
JOB PURPOSE:
- To drive Islamic Relief staff and visitors from and to destinations assigned by the line manager
KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Has regular contact with all Jendouba office team .
SCOPE AND AUTHORITY
- Scope of the Role:
- To transport peoples and equipments according to the plan, and to ensure the maintenance and security of the vehicle.
- Responsibility for Resources:
- Ensuring proper driving and maintenance of vehicles and record keeping for all the travelling.
- Ensure the safety and security of vehicles.
- Ensure the transportation of peoples according to the plan
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The driver is accountable to fulfil his roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles, and to report to the Department Manager regularly, and he has to follow the following tasks:
- Transport people and equipment under good security conditions:
- When transporting IR employees, respect the country’s circulation rules and follow the logistician’s planning and instructions;
- In case of an accident, immediately get in touch with the closest police station and duly inform the logistics department;
- Follow the instructions of the manufacturer and the IR rules when using the vehicle;
- Keep all personal documents as well as those of the vehicle with you and check that they are valid.
- Ensure maintenance of the vehicle:
- Solve minor technical problems;
- Inform the logistics department of any major repairs to be carried out;
- Carry out daily checks before starting up the vehicle;
- Keep the vehicle clean;
- Note down fuel consumption in the record book in the morning and at the end of the day as well as any information concerning the maintenance of the vehicle;
- Prepare departures to the field:
- Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure;
- Prepare additional equipment to be brought along according to needs (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit, and water).
