Title: Driver

Reports to: Operations Director/ Logistics Coordinator 

1. BACKGROUND 

The purpose of the USAID-funded Jobs, Opportunities & Business Success project (JOBS) is to create jobs in Tunisia on a sustainable basis by (1) providing targeted assistance to Tunisian businesses, especially SMEs, to expand their sales and/or exports enabling them to expand and hire additional workers; (2) enhance work force development by reducing the education/training gap between what the university and vocational training systems provide and the actual needs of Tunisian businesses; (3) promote a more effective business enabling environment by working with the public and private sectors to promote policy and regulatory reforms; and, (4) communicate to Tunisians, especially youth, a sense of the importance of market-led economic growth and entrepreneurship, as well as vocational education as an apt career choice. 

JOBS also aspires to have project stakeholders and Tunisians at large understand and be aware of USAID’s contribution to these objectives through the JOBS project. 

JOBS has a fleet of 8-10 cars with frequent movements within Grand Tunis and travel, including overnight lodging, into the regions. With a team of 30 business advisors and numerous other technical and operational staff requiring frequent travel, the project needs Drivers for making travel arrangements 

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Operations director and the Logistics Coordinator, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the Tunisia JOBS staff and visitors ensuring highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. He/she demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. 

2. TASKS: 

• Drive assigned project vehicle daily and as requested or pre-approved by logistic coordinator. Trips include trips within the country and in the greater Tunis, and other driving assignments as required 
• Ensure the cleanliness of assigned vehicles 
• Check assigned vehicle weekly to ensure that it is operational and safe to drive. On a weekly basis, check the oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires and signals etc… 
• Initiate and supervise any repairs require on assigned vehicles with supervisor approval 
• Initiate and supervise any periodic maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning 
• Fulfil project reporting requirements and maintain records, including vehicle logs, vehicle routing and vehicle condition log 
• Prepare for trips to the regions and the greater Tunis in advance by locating the planned destinations and the most secure route and coordinate closely with the security manager when preparing trip 
• Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents 
• Perform any other tasks requested by supervisor 

3. LEVEL OF EFFORT AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE 

This position is long-term assignment, on full-time basis. 

4. LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT 

The assignment will be in Tunis. 

5. SUPERVISION AND REPORTING 

The driver will report to the Operations Director and the Logistics Coordinator.
