The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the UN that promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) to support economic growth, reduce poverty, and protect the environment. UNIDO helps countries develop competitive and resilient industries by fostering innovation, promoting green technologies, strengthening value chains, and enhancing trade capacity, all in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the three normative guiding principles: Human Rights based approach (HRBA), Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) and Leaving No One Behind (LNOB).
This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged. The UNIDO Field Office in Tunisia implements a dynamic portfolio of projects supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, in alignment with national strategies and SDG 9. These initiatives span key sectors such as green industrialization, circular economy, youth and women’s economic empowerment, sustainable textiles, e-mobility, and climate-resilient industries. In this context, the National UN Youth Volunteer will contribute to enhancing the coordination and delivery of UNIDO activities by supporting project teams and field office operations. This role will provide a unique opportunity for a motivated young professional to gain hands-on experience in a UN field setting, engaging in the coordination of impactful development initiatives.
Under the direct supervision of UNIDO Representative in Tunisia, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: 1. Coordination and Project Support – Support coordination among project teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation of activities. – Assist in the preparation of project briefs, updates, and coordination notes. – Monitor project timelines and deliverables using internal tools and follow up with teams on pending tasks. 2. Information Management and Reporting – Compile and organize project-related information, including reports, data, presentations, and visibility materials. – Maintain and update project documentation and knowledge management systems. – Support the preparation of internal and donor reporting by collecting relevant data and inputs. 3. Support to Events and Communication – Assist in the organization of meetings, workshops, and high-level visits, including logistical coordination and background documentation. – Support outreach, visibility, and communication actions aligned with project objectives. – Draft and edit correspondence, minutes, summaries, and media content as needed. 4. Liaison and Stakeholder Engagement – Liaise with national counterparts, implementing partners, and other UN agencies for collaborative initiatives. – Assist in tracking stakeholder engagement and follow-ups. 5. Support to Youth and Volunteerism – Contribute to the promotion of youth engagement and volunteerism by participating in UNV activities, youth campaigns, and initiatives related to UNIDO’s mandate.

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Public or Business Administration, International Development, Communication, Social Sciences, or related areas. Young professionals with strong organizational and coordination skills and a demonstrated interest in international cooperation are especially encouraged to apply.

UN Youth Volunteers get the following package: • Volunteer Living Allowance (around 1788.53 TND./Month) • Entry Lump-Sum = USD 400 (one-time payment paid in TND) • Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer only. • Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment) TND 186.3 for each month served, paid on completion of contract. • Access to UNV E-Campus for training and learning including access to LinkedIn learning.
