DIGNITY is seeking a consultant to work on a project on the rights of LGBTQI++ individuals in  detention with DAMJ. 

Scope:  

DIGNITY- Danish Institute against Torture is seeking a consultant for a project in partnership with DAMJ. The Project proposes to conduct a qualitative study the results will support the outline the advocacy  plan of action. The survey will specifically target LGBTIQ++ individuals who were detained or arrested under article 230 and aims at assessing their detention conditions. The results will not necessarily be  made public, but a short summary might be used as an advocacy tool.  

Tasks:  

The consultant is required to: 

– Propose a detailed methodology for the survey (Including a timeline, methodological note) – Prepare a desk study on the detention conditions of LGBTQI++  

– Carry on the survey in detention places. 

– Develop a study report (approximatively 15000 words) 

– Develop a short summary for advocacy purposes 

– Participate in the dissemination of the report and the study elaborated 

– Advise in networking of the key stakeholders for advocacy within the recommendation of the  study 

Contract period:  

The contract period will be 35 working days over the period of 3 months. 

Deliverables:  

– A detailed methodology for the survey 

– A desk study  

A qualitative study report about the LGBTIQ++ individuals in detention places in French – A short summary for advocacy purposes in French 

– Research related primary data (such as interview and focus groups transcripts)  

Critères d'éligibilité

  • An extensive work experience with NGOs in the field of detention and human rights
  • A Masters or a PHD in International relations, gender studies, or human rights
  • A detailed knowledge in Human rights and particularly in LGBTQI++ individual rights.
  • 5 years’ experience in consultancy and research in the field of human rights studies.
  • A thorough knowledge in the judicial process and the security context in Tunisia.
  • Excellent analytical and assessment skills
  • Proficiency in French and Arabic
