DIGNITY- Danish Institute Against Torture is seeking a communications officer with solid experience in communications, branding and marketing in a development context for our country office in Tunis, Tunisia. Is that you?

 

About DIGNITY
DIGNITY is an independent nongovernmental anti-torture organization founded in 1982 in Denmark. DIGNITY is present in more than 20 partner countries with almost forty years of experience in the rehabilitation of torture and organized violence survivors, in the prevention of torture and in the prevention of urban violence. 

In January 2012, DIGNITY opened an office in Tunisia to coordinate an extensive support program for Tunisian stakeholders (State institutions and civil society organisations) through cooperation partnerships around torture prevention, the rehabilitation of survivors as well as urban violence prevention. 

DIGNITY is working towards establishing a world without torture where no one is subject to torture or other forms of inhumane and degrading treatment and, where torture practices no longer continue to affect survivors and their families.

 

As a Communications Officer your primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop, write and edit communications materials, including press releases, website content and social media content
  • Promote communications through appropriate social channels (FaceBook, Twitter)
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns 
  • Ensure that all communications material and activities align with brand standards
  • Ensure all communications material and activities align with DIGNITY’s GDPR obligations 
  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos
  • Work with communications team members in DIGNITY headquarters to conceptualize and implement communications strategies and campaigns
  • Respond to media inquiries and perform media outreach to achieve coverage of activities
  • Develop communications strategy for DIGNITY projects and activities, in collaboration with project officers and programme managers
  • Prepare monthly update of human rights, political situation in North Africa region for DIGNITY colleagues 

Eligibility criteria :

  • 2+ years prior experience in a communications role (experience working with NGOs/CSOs will be considered an asset)
  • Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook and Twitter
  • Must possess exceptional writing skills in English and French, and be able to compose engaging and accurate content related to DIGNITY’s mandate
  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and competing deadlines simultaneously
  • Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset
  • Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices
  • Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts
  • Must be resourceful and take initiative even when given minimal direction


The position is based in DIGNITY’s Tunis office with occasional travel in the region. 

 

Salary

DIGNITY guarantees a competitive salary, depending on seniority and experience, comparable to what is offered for similar positions in international NGOs in Tunisia.
