Position Title: Communications Manager
Reports to: WWF NA Director

OVERALL GOAL OF THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
To support conservation efforts and ensure WWF NA’s conservation goals are met through strategic promotion of the WWF NA brand among different audiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
Under the supervision of the WWF NA director, the Communication Manager will lead the design and implementation of the WWF NA Communications strategy. She/He will be the focal point of communications within the WWF network and is part of the Senior Management Team.
Senior Management Team role:
- Technical Advisor to the Director on partner’s and donor relations, government engagement and crisis management.
- Program and proposal development lead on communications and community engagement.
- Recruitment of communication(s) position(s) to support program implementation.
Organizational role:
- Designs and leads the implementation of a WWF NA communications strategy and detailed annual working plans.
- Ensures the assessment, reports of progress and redesigns strategy and plans to achieve maximum communications impact.
- Brand and reputation management of the organization with key audiences.
- Overall responsible for the online presence of the organization.
- Alternates spokesperson of the organization
- Supervises office communicators and ensures that they implement the WWF NA conservation strategy in close interaction with the conservation team.
- Ensures communication materials produced (project videos, guides,…) are developed and designed according to WWF brands guidelines and in close collaboration with project officers
- Supervises the planning and execution of projects communication and awareness raising events/campaigns (World Wetlands Day, Megafaun week, Forest week)
- Ensures that external and third party partners respect WWF brand and communication policy and monitors communication activities where WWF is engaged
- Ensure capacity building of WWF NA communicators
- Supports Conservation manager and Programme leaders in developing and delivering communications activities to serve the objectives of the office conservation programmes. (Freshwater, Marine and Landscapes)
- Develop and maintain excellent relations with national and international media and organize press conferences, press trips and other media related events.
Network role:
- Focal point representative at the Global Communications Community.
- Responsible for country content sharing with the network and providing input to broader communications strategies, activities and events across the WWF network.
- Ensures alignment and continuously collaborates on communications with WWF NA offices.
- Member of the WWF Francophone Community of Communicators.
PROFILE
Required qualifications
- University Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, or equivalent other related subjects relevant to the position.
- At least five years’ experience in communications.
- Experience in the international context is a preferable asset.
- Experience in projects/programmes related to Nature conservation is a preferable asset.
- Demonstrated track record in delivering strategic communications programs.
- Demonstrated project and staff management skills and abilities.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills and fluency in Arabic, French and English. Other Mediterranean languages would be a plus.
- Experience working with organizations involved in environmental and/or community issues will be a plus.

- Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Strong background in digital communication (social media, e-newsletters, web design…).
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships, partnerships and networks at all levels within WWF and with external stakeholders.

- Advanced understanding of the media environment in the region and internationally.
- Excellent computer knowledge (word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, preferably experience with video and image editing softwares).
- Willingness to regularly travel to programme areas.
