Chemonics International seeks Two Bookkeepers for the newly awarded USAID The Tunisia Jobs, Opportunities, and Business Success (JOBS) project. The purpose of JOBS is to create jobs in Tunisia by providing targeted technical assistance to individual firms, in order to increase that firm’s competitiveness, enabling it to expand and hire additional workers. At the same time, in support of the goal of job creation, the project will assist Tunisia with workforce developmentand job placement as well as identify and advocate for improvements in Tunisia’s business enabling environment.
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with planning, managing and implementing all aspects of project accounting. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

Finance and Accounting

  • Receives and manages invoices from vendors to ensure timely payment by project.
  • Prepares payments for expenses incurred and ensures that appropriate documentation and approvals are obtained for each payment.
  • Maintains financial files in accordance with Chemonics’ and USAID policies.
  • Monitors cash balances and bank accounts and coordinates with Accounting Manager to prepare wire requests.
  • Enters all accounting transactions entered into the accounting software and prepares monthly locals package.
  • Prepares all coding sheets for expenses.
  • Assists the Accounting Manager with processing payroll each month and prepare salary receipt/payroll forms, as well as appropriate tax withholdings and employer contributions.
  • Liaises and attends meeting with local accounting firm and other Chemonics’ Tunisia based projects as required.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports as needed.

Other

  • Perform other duties as to achieve the project’s goals and objectives.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or other relevant field required
  • 2 years of professional experience relating to accounting required.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and preparation of graphs, tables, charts with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and accounting software
  • Experience working with international donors or compagnies preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Fluency in Arabic, French required.
  • Fluency in English is an asset
