The Libya Transition Initiative 3 is a USAID program implemented by Chemonics International in Tunisia and Libya. The goal of the LTI 3 is to establish and manage a quick-response mechanism supporting activities that reinforce stability and build an inclusive and peaceful democratic future in Libya.
LTI 3 seeks a short-term accountant to provide short-term surge support for our financial operations for project offices in Tunisia and Libya. S/he will be responsible for ensuring project financial policies are carried out in the office and will enter all local transactions into the project’s financial system. The Accountant reports to the Finance Director.
Duration: Three Months based in Tunis
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review all accounting records for accuracy and legitimacy.
- Prepare checks, receipts, journals, and other tracking documents, as needed.
- Enter data of all complete payment requests vouchers into field office financial system.
- Review all local financial transactions (e.g. petty cash, subcontract payments, etc.) into project’s accounting system.
- Review timesheets and ensure payroll is completed in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Maintain and update accounting records and files with appropriate supporting documentation and approvals.
- Ensure that the program’s financial information and supporting documentation are kept confidential.
- Track sub ledger balances, including receivable accounts for individual staff, such as outstanding travel advances, vehicle mileage, and personal telephone use.
- Track employee Accounts Receivables (cash/travel advances) through Pivot tables to ensure 30-day turnaround
- Manage completeness of project electronic finance files with Bookkeeper
- Review entries for complete documentation and mathematically accuracy according to Chemonics policy.
- Monitor payroll status in home office financial system and provided monthly updates
- Other duties as assigned by Finance Director.
