Chemonics International seeks an Access to Finance Specialist for the newly awarded USAIDTunisia Business Reform and Competitiveness Project II (BRCP II). The purpose of BRCP II is to create jobs in Tunisia by providing targeted technical assistance to individual firms, in order to increase that firm’s competitiveness, enabling it to expand and hire additional workers. At the same time, in support of the goal of job creation, the project will assist Tunisia with workforce development and job placement as well as identify and advocate for improvements in Tunisia’s business enabling environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Establish and maintain and extensive and deep network of contacts with individuals and institutions in the Tunisian financial system, including banking for SMEs, as well as the microenterprise sector
- Work with international and domestic consultants in assessing constraints and opportunities to increase access to finance for BRCP client firms and SMEs and microenterprises in general.
- Develop specific, implementable strategies and programs to increase finance for SMEs through different mechanisms, including development of financial instruments, reducing perceived risks to banks through partnerships with technical assistance firms, “anchor” firms, etc.
- Analyze and provide recommendations on different modalities to increase value chain financing.
- Oversee possible training initiatives to commercial banks and other sector stakeholders
- Work with donors and banks which have ongoing credit lines to ensure they are utilized effectively and can be accessed by BRCP II client firms.
- Work in partnership with other project team members to enhance BRCP objectives.
