Chemonics is recruit for numerous positions, both supervisory and non-supervisory, for Business Advisors for the newly awarded USAID Tunisia Business Reform and Competitiveness Project II. The purpose of BRCP II is to create jobs in Tunisia by providing targeted technical assistance to individual firms, in order to increase that firm’s competitiveness, enabling it to expand and hire additional workers. At the same time, in support of the goal of job creation, the project will assist Tunisia with workforce development and job placement as well as identify and advocate for improvements in Tunisia’s business enabling environment.

The Business Advisor(s) will be responsible for identifying prospective small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that the project may support through (a) technical assistance (b) identification of new domestic and international markets/buyers (c) access to finance; (d) partnerships with other companies (e) assistance in obtaining international certifications, and other modalities of assistance.The Business Advisors will also be in charge of implementing this assistance once the project signs agreements with each company, including managing international and local consultants.

We are seeking individuals who have knowledge of businesses in Tunisia and what is required to make them successful. Most importantly, that have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify business that meet the project’s firm selection criteria.
  • Through effective due diligence and diagnostics on the enterprise, quickly determine if a business can grow successfully, including the creation of new jobs, expand sales, and possibly exports.
  • Work with selected business to develop work plans that will implement the project’s assistance packages, establishing responsibilities, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop strong mentoring and professional relationships with the senior management of the selected companies and its key staff.
  • Track enterprise progress against plans and report progress to the Business Competitiveness Team Leader.
  • Manage project consultants.
  • Support the achievement of overall project goals as required to ensure project performance.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least five years of professional experience in business
  • Experience in leading consulting assignments to Tunisian firms highly desirable
  • Knowledge of and experience in working in key economic sectors, including but not limited to agro-industry, textile/garments, ICT and technology, light manufacturing, etc
  • Experience with USAID or other international donors desired but not necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in Arabic and French required
  • Good English skills highly desirable and necessary for some positions
  • Ability to travel throughout Tunisia
  • Previous experience supervising and managing large teams (required for supervisory positions only)
