Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Anticipated Duration: August 2019 – November 2019 (with possible extension)
The Carter Center has recently initiated the deployment of a long-term observation mission to monitor the Presidential and/or Parliamentary elections anticipated in fall 2019 in Tunisia. We are currently recruiting a Media Analyst. This position is open to Tunisian nationals only.
Under the supervision of the Mission Director the duties include:
- Preparation of daily news summary focusing on political and election related news in Arabic and French local media;
- Monitor website and social media pages of political parties and other candidates;
- Monitor online open source sites for signs of potential incidents related to the elections;
- Monitor the activities of the HAICA related to media violations;
- Relevant input to Draft Interim Reports, Preliminary Statement, Final Report, and STO Guidebook (if applicable);
- Help manage press list/collect emails and addresses for statement dissemination,
- During the immediate election period, helping to coordinate press conference
Critères d'éligibilité
- must have English, French and Arabic professional language capacity
- First level University degree in information and communication, journalism, international relations, law, political science, social science, or related field;
- Two years of relevant professional work experience at the national or international level with some experience in monitoring the conduct of media during election processes;
- Knowledge of relevant media laws and regulations related to media coverage of the elections;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Good drafting skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a sensitive political environment;
- Ability to work as a member of a team composed of individuals of different cultural and political backgrounds, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
- Computer literate; familiarity with word-processing, excel and access;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English with knowledge of election-related terminology.
