Job Summary

Democracy International is seeking to hire a Capacity Building Specialist for the NASSEEJ project in Tunisia. This position is open to Tunisian nationals only. The NASSEEJ project is partnering with and supporting Tunisian Citizens to act on specific issues and effect change at the local, regional and national levels to advance Tunisia’s development in different sectors. Project interventions are intended to be timely, relevant and actionable, and will be focused on prioritizing activities that reflect local priorities, and have strong potential to create tangible, near-term, improvements in the daily lives of citizens.  

Responsibilities

 The Capacity Building Specialist primary responsibility is to enhance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of organizations, CSOs, civic initiatives and existing networks. He/she will play a crucial role in identifying learning needs, designing and implementing training programs, and evaluating their effectiveness. 

He/she will provide technical leadership, guidance, and strategic direction around capacity development activities. The CB Specialist will report to the Program Director and work closely with the project team to make sure that capacity building activities are implemented effectively. 

with specific attention to the following areas:

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify gaps in skills, knowledge, and capacities within the organization.
  • Work closely with selected local partners to ensure adequate capacity is built in various areas of the program.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning materials, incorporating various instructional methods and technologies.
  • Support the facilitation of training sessions for diverse partners, ensuring a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators to assess the impact of capacity building initiatives.
  • Conduct regular evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Coordinate all capacity building activities under the project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant feedback, and program evaluations.
  • Prepare reports on the outcomes and impact of capacity building activities.
  • Contribute to work plan, monitoring and evaluation and other planning/reporting as needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience

     ∙      Bachelor’s degree in social studies, international development, statistics (quantitative and/or qualitative), or related fields

  • 7+ years Professional experience
  • Basic Excel, Word and PowerPoint knowledge required
  • Experience working leading capacity building activities for development programs.
  • Individual should display a positive, team-oriented attitude to match our friendly work environment.
  • Fluency in Arabic,English and French
  • Strong outreach and communications skills, analytical skills, and self-motivation
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills 
  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills

Reporting Requirements

The Capacity Building Specialist will report to The program director.
