Description of the Lazord Fellowship: 

The Lazord Fellowship is a one-year regional program with chapters in Egypt, Jordan, and Tunisia. The program has been running since 2010 with its pilot in Egypt and has been growing internationally since then. After a competitive recruitment effort, fellows are selected in each country and placed for one year in a local organization working to benefit society. Each fellow receives training and mentoring sessions provided by the Lazord Fellowship and its network to help realize his/her full potential as a responsible leader. The Lazord Fellowship offers each fellow a modest stipend for the year. 

Being a host organization for a Lazord Fellow means not only taking an active role in the professionalization of a young graduate, but also adding an active and engaged member to your team. The program lasts one year during which your organization can host a Lazord Fellow as an integral member of your team. The local Lazord Chapter will provide your organization with networking opportunities and a chance to participate in our training exchange program. We support fellowship placements in a diversity of organizations (non-profit, for-profit, local/international, etc). 

Special note regarding the Covid-19 context: We want to reassure you that despite these difficult times, the Lazord Fellowship will be continuing. More than ever, we need youth who are bright and quick-on-their-feet thinkers as well as host organizations who share the same values as us to support the fellowship. We will try our best to provide the same opportunities to our fellows as before, but depending on how the situation continues to unfold, we may need to maintain certain components of the fellowship online. It would be wonderful if you had the ability to provide remote work opportunities for our fellows. 

Expectations for host organizations: 

• Provide a supervisor who will: 

○ support the fellow’s personal, professional, and educational growth 

○ provide on-the-job coaching 

○ be reasonably available for the fellow 

• An active educational partner with the Lazord Fellowship 

○ Provide time off for the fellow to attend Lazord trainings and activities 

○ On-the-job orientation/program 

○ Participate in our training exchange program: For each training provided by a host organization, that host organization can send 1 staff member to attend 1 Lazord Fellowship training For more information and to apply, contact your local Lazord Chapter listed below.
