POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Business Analyst
Position Classification: Long-Term, Full-Time
Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Background: The USAID Power Tunisia Program (Power Tunisia) seeks to advance Tunisia’s energy security and resilience by providing technical assistance and facilitating investment funding for the deployment of clean energy technologies resulting in the Program’s three core objectives:
- Increased clean energy generation capacity
- Reduced energy demand and consumption
Position Overview: Support the Power Tunisia technical team in the deployment of Power Tunisia funds through Grants under Contract, as well as the Power Tunisia Activity Fund, for the advancement of energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy (RE) solutions in the energy sector. The Business Analyst is responsible for company and industry analysis across Tunisia’s private sector, collecting business statistics, building knowledge of performance of various industries and sectors, and analyzing the financial and economic health of prospective assistance recipients.
Detailed Responsibilities: The Employee shall perform the following general functions:
- Collect and maintain data on business performance for those businesses that are engaged in partnerships and pilots with Power Tunisia to gather data on key business metrics including but not limited to; profit, revenue, costs, growth, reported savings
- Research and provide analysis on Tunisia’s economy, identifying market trends, challenges, opportunities, and stay current on policies pertinent to Power Tunisia’s mission
- Have targeted consultations with a select number of businesses, private sector associations, and others in the business network to establish relationships and identify needs. Engage and support PT awareness campaigns, workshops through business associations, and roadshows.
- Support both the EE and RE teams to design technical assistance and grant support linked to EE and RE solutions for small, medium, and large-scale businesses
- Lead in the evaluation and strengthening of projects proposed by relevant stakeholders (engineering firms, energy auditors, associations, etc.) from a business management perspective
- Review applications for financing and financial statements
- Work with other project technical staff to develop and maintain investment project pipeline, highlighting barriers to project development and opportunities for advancement
Supervisor and Reporting Responsibilities: For all routine responsibilities and duties, either directly or indirectly related to the Position description, the Employee shall report directly to, and be supervised by the position of Pilot / Partnerships Lead. The Employee’s Supervisor may change from time to time on an ad hoc or temporary basis depending on the needs of the Project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business, economics, finance, or other relevant degree (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial analysis, investing, business development
- Knowledge of clean energy sector trends and solutions
- Experience developing and maintaining financial models and forecasts
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards and regulations
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior management
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in Tunisia required; experience in other MENA countries preferred
- Prior experience on USAID or donor-funded projects preferred
- Fluent in French and Arabic required
- Fluent in English (both oral and written) preferred
