The Programme Assistant is located in Libya Country Office (based in Tunis), and reports to UNFPA Programme Analyst of Libya CO (based in Tunis).
Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant supports the planning and management of UNFPA’s Libya Programme Framework 2016-2017 by providing and managing data inputs, providing logistical support, support monitoring project implementation and following up on recommendations.
The Programme Assistant applies established systems and procedures and assists in creation of substantive knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing information relevant mainly to Gender issues and support to population and development, RH, Youth projects. S/he is instrumental in support facilitating programme/ project implementation and ensure the reinforcement of UNFPA Libya Office media and communication output.
Major Activities/Expected Results
- Assist with the preparation and production of communication materials, including fast facts brochures, newsletters and publications.
- Update the UNFPA Libya Office social media pages on a regular basis with relevant material, highlighting key events and achievements.
- Assist in conducting of campaigns and events the Communications Unit undertakes.
- Provide support in developing public service announcements capturing key messages of UNFPA Libya Office
- Assist in conducting of events in collaboration with the UN Communications Group
- Assist in the coordination of GBV projects activities
- Assist in planning and implementing new communication initiatives
- Assist in writing press releases and feature articles related to activities/events
- Assist the Communications Unit on regional level with any other duties as may be assigned.
- Monitor, evaluate, anticipate and respond proactively where it is deemed necessary, to all relevant news, information and forum discussion,
- Participates in formulation of component projects by compiling and analyzing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance to the Government, drafts project work plans and prepares tables;
- Support monitoring projects activities, participating in review meetings and preparing regular inputs to progress reports. Analyzes basic factors affecting achievement of results, & follows up on recommendations.
- In coordination with national counterparts and project personnel, guides routine implementation of assigned projects, coordinating delivery of project inputs, facilitate participation of national counterparts in training activities and study tours.
- Provides logistical support to projects by coordinating review meetings and project related workshops and events. Trains and guides IPs staff on national execution and procedures.
- Contributes to creation and sharing of knowledge by synthesizing and documenting findings and lessons learned, success stories and best practices, strategies and approaches of the CO, and drafting relevant materials for dissemination.
Work Relations
The Programme Assistant maintains collaborative relationships with all CO programme and project staff. Internal contacts include the Assistant Representative, the Programme Specialist, the Programme Analyst, the CO’s programme/ technical team, and the CO’s administrative management team.
Job Requirements
Education:
University degree in the field of communications, public relations, languages or equivalent;
Knowledge and Experience:
- Five years of relevant experience in supporting programme/ project management
- Relevant working experience (5 years at least) in the field of communications and public relations is preferable
- Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems.
