The freelance will act as Assistant Project Manager for MedMedia, a project funded by the European Union and managed by BBC Media Action. Based in Tunisia, she will provide administrative support to the project Team Leader as well as the other Key Experts and consortium members. Key responsibilities will comprise:
- Liaising with project partners and key stakeholders in order to ensure proper communications and effective information-sharing.
- Helping to organise project events in the region with a particular focus on providing logistical support and proper briefings to participants and consultants.
- Developing strong links with public service broadcasters across the region and assisting with the implementation of the “Youth on Screen” initiative.
- Supporting the ongoing development of the MedMedia digital library as well as the “Youth on Screen” Facebook page.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of a framework aimed at mapping media reform and development initiatives across the target region.
- Providing ad hoc translation services, where required.
- Sourcing service providers in Tunisia and other partner countries (e.g. local transport, interpretation, conference facilities).
- Helping to collate data for interim reports including finance other project documents.
The Assistant Project Manager will be managed by the Team Leader.
Candidates for these roles should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Qualifications and skills
- University-level education;
- Fluent written and spoken Arabic;
- An excellent command of English and/or French;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
- Excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills;
- Familiarity with social media and Internet technologies;
- Ability to deal with financial information and keep basic accounts.
Experience
- A strong track record of providing logistical support and organising large-scale events, ideally in the ENP South countries;
- A background in working with organisations and/or individuals overseas and in dealing with different cultures;
- Experience of working as part of a team, particularly on a regional basis;
- Some experience of project management;
- Some experience of interpreting and translation;
- An understanding of international development and media issues would be an asset.
