Title: Producer, North Africa

Reports to: Series Producer North Africa

Based: Tunis, Tunisia

Duration: To end March 2017 (with possibility of extension subject to funding)

Purpose of Role

The Producer, North Africa will work across Tunisia projects as the Producer for a portfolio of debate and current affairs programmes aimed at Tunisian audiences. This will include the Ija Inbox programmes aimed at Tunisian youth and Tunisian debate programmes. S/he will work proactively, under the overall supervision of the Series Producer and Head of Content and Training.

The Producer will be responsible for maintaining editorial standards of the programmes, working from start to finish. S/he will help produce the programmes with our local partners (including broadcasters and CSOs) and with trainees. The Producer will plan the schedule and be responsible for the show’s content, including shaping the editing process. S/he will work with production teams including presenters, researchers, audience bookers and technical staff to ensure high quality programme content. S/he will help ensure that production activities keep to agreed budget and timelines.

Main Duties

• Ensuring editorial standards and donor requirements are met in selection of audiences and panellists and the creation of programme content

• Help plan and maintain the schedule and subjects for discussion across the project outputs, ensuring the most is made out of topics, potential panellists, audience, resources, locations and budget

• Identify and select panellists ensuring appropriate, diverse and balanced representation on chosen topics

• Draft briefings on programme guests for internal audiences

• Draft content about programmes for promotional purposes as required

• Work with the presenters to ensure high quality of programme content

• Help lead and direct the production and technical teams

• Responsible for ensuring the correct names and designations are used in on-screen name captions

• Participate in post-production and contribute to editorial decisions

• Oversee researchers working on the programmes
