Job Introduction
BBC Media Action Libya is looking for a Planning Assistant to join the El Kul team. This role, reporting to the Planning Producer, requires someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and preferably has an interest in news, current affairs and storytelling.
Main Responsibilities
- You will work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multi-platform content by supporting ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
- Providing direct administrative support across the department, you also provide specialist support using production management skills, knowledge and experience. You will be responsible for delivering value for money in the role through effective and efficient management of time and resources and in providing administrative support associated with managing and monitoring production budgets.
- You will be responsible for assisting with content research, booking travel, accommodation and hospitality using the appropriate routes. You will be proficient in running diaries. You will have the opportunity to draw on your research skills and will be required to source and clear archive as well as researching, arranging and collating relevant screenings and reading material.
- You will work closely to build relations with PR companies and news agencies in Libya whilst supporting the drive for continuous improvement throughout production and contribute to and support a creative and collaborative culture
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- To provide support to content producers in the office, on location, and in the studio by performing a number of production and operational related administrative tasks and activities
- Support the team to deliver high-quality copy/digital material under pressure
- Use discretion to identify and resolve first line issues, referring to supervisor/manager for assistance as necessary
- Responsible for co-ordinating team IT requests, user administration, systems access and record keeping. Working with the lead asset manager to ensure those who are joining, moving or leaving the department are equipped appropriately with the right IT
- To contribute wherever possible to improvements in the efficiency of the team and department as a whole
- Contribute to and maintain a creative and collaborative culture
- To establish, maintain and develop as appropriate, efficient office and administration systems and processes, to ensure the smooth running of the department at all times
- Prepare documents, listings and other materials to a clear brief, using established formats and standard software
- Research guests and fact check information in conjunction with organising planning and research information for producers (press releases, insets, back annos, credits, footage, logistics etc).
- To provide first class organisational and administrative support to the team with differing needs and demands
- At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the BBC Health and Safety policy
