Job Title: Facilities Manager, North Africa
Department/Business Unit: BBC Media Action North Africa, Tunis
Reports To: Country Director, North Africa
Contract length: To 31st March 2018 (with possibility for extension subject to funding)
Purpose of the Job
Facilities Manager, North Africaensures the efficient operation of all office services, including IT and security and BBC Media Action training and studio facilities in Tunis. S/he will help ensure that the work facilities meet the needs of the organisation and its employees.S/he will managea small facilities team.This role is Tunis based and reports to the North Africa Country Director.
Main Duties
The Facilities Manager, North Africais responsible for:
- Overseeing basic facilities: including heating, lighting, air-conditioning, water, electricity, workstations, phones, software, stationery, training materials and conference communicationsand ensuring that they are well maintained and provisioned.
- Managing security and security systems including CCTV
- Managing all IT facilities and equipment including liaising with London based IT team on best practice and the introduction of new systems
- Ensuring the security of the IT system
- Training BBC Media Action staff in use of Office 365 and other new systems
- Ensuring that new joiners are correctly allocated IT and communications equipment
- Ensuring that BBC Media Action Production Equipment is correctly logged in and out, that the Asset List is updated and correct and that the equipment is well maintained
- Ensuring the safe and efficient running and allocation of the studio spaces including the maintenance of lighting and equipment.
- Working with Production Management and BBC consultants on the design and build of studio sets
- Ensuring the efficient allocation of meeting rooms
- Working with the Production Management and Project Management teams to ensure forward planning of resources
- Supporting Procurement in the selection in purchasing and contracting of equipment and facilities
- Ensuring that all facilities meet both local regulation and BBC standards including health, environmental and safety/security
- Managingbuilding and renovation projects
- Ensuring best value for money and cost-effectiveness
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Experience of managing and leading teams and projects
- Excellent IT skills
- Organisation, time management, prioritising and the ability to handle a complex and varied workload
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven track record in forming effective relationships with a range of local and international stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of Tunisian Health and Safety Regulations
- Knowledge of BBC Health and Safety Regulations
- Experience of line management of staff
- Teamworking: Willingness to adapt activities and policies to changing local context and needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work in English, Arabic and/or French
Desirable:
- Experience living and working in North Africa or the Middle East, ideally in the development and/or media field.
