Background

The Munathara Initiative is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2012 with offices in Washington D.C., Tunisia, Lebanon, and Morocco. The Initiative provides independent and inclusive platforms for debate across the MENA region, ensuring everyone has a voice regardless of age, gender, or background.

In collaboration with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, GreenTalks will produce a series of five public debate podcasts/ Radio shows  filmed in inspiring Tunisian locations. The debates will address key environmental challenges while training young moderators and amplifying youth voices.

To ensure high-quality sound recording and production, The Munathara Initiative seeks to recruit a Audio Technician  to support the GreenTalks debates.

Purpose of the Assignment

The Sound Technician will be responsible for ensuring professional audio recording and sound quality during the filming of GreenTalks episodes. This role is critical in delivering clear, engaging, and technically flawless podcasts and audiovisual content for youth audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate audio recording equipment for GreenTalks debates in various public locations (indoor and outdoor).

  • Ensure high-quality live sound capture with multiple microphones (moderators, guests, public interactions).

  • Manage audio levels, sound mixing, and noise control during recordings.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently during production.

  • Support the video production team with synchronized audio for multi-camera recordings.

  • Assist in post-production by delivering clean audio files, ensuring alignment with editing requirements.

  • Ensure proper maintenance, transport, and safe handling of sound equipment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or technical training in sound engineering, audiovisual production, or related fields.

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in professional sound recording for live shows, podcasts, or audiovisual productions.

  • Strong technical knowledge of microphones, sound mixers, recorders, and editing software.

  • Experience with on-location sound recording (indoor/outdoor, public spaces).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with a diverse production team.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills under pressure.

  • Knowledge of environmental or public debate productions is an asset.

Deliverables

  • Professional-quality audio recordings of 3 GreenTalks episodes (minimum 45 minutes each).

  • Delivery of clean, edited, and synchronized audio tracks for post-production.
