PROJECT SUMMARY
Ma3an is a five-year (2018-2023) USAID-funded project with the goal to increase youth participation in civic and political life and address youth grievances in Tunisian. Ma3an equips youth with the skills to engage in civic actions with local actors to address their communities’ needs and grievances. At the community level, Ma3an uses a community-driven youth development model to inform and support sustainable interventions through ongoing collaboration between community actors that are inclusive, participatory, and solutions-focused. These include working with and through local CSO partners to understand local dynamics in each community; and implement community-driven youth development programming involving youth, local NGOs, local government, and other community leaders through community-specific grants.
JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Communications is a member of Ma3an’s Senior Management Team responsible for all communications and public outreach targets and activities, including the design of the communications and social media strategy and its implementation, production of timely, quality internal and external information and social media products, weekly, annual and ad-hoc project reports, presentations and updates, development of case studies, success stories and fact sheets and other programmatic social media, web and outreach materials. The Associate Director of Communications reports to the Ma3an Chief of Party.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement clear procedures and processes for developing youth outreach reports, publications, and social media materials; tracking dissemination; preparing for and reporting on events; (video) documenting project activities; storing information; and being the chief liaison engaging with the press/media and USAID;
- Lead the design and implementation of Ma3an youth outreach activities and manage outreach consultants and contractors in the areas of writing and editing, layout/design, information dissemination, events planning, social media, and web development and management;
- Engage Ma3an youth leaders around the country in generating content to be disseminated on Ma3an social media platforms that appeals to youth nation-wide. Engage Ma3an youth leaders in determining strategic approach to ma3an communications, including the use of particular social media platforms.
- Conceptualize a Youth Public Outreach / Social Media Strategy for Ma3an with Ma3an youth leaders that will inform key project stakeholders and constituencies regarding project objectives, methodologies and achievements in order to facilitate its operation, enhance its effectiveness, and appropriately position Ma3an within its operational environment;
- Lead the formation of Ma3an’s Youth Advisory council and the establishment of Ma3an’s Youth leadership Network, as important components of Ma3an’s sustainability plan.
- Develop and execute a work plan to implement the above Youth Public Outreach Strategy, overseeing the efforts of support staff and any short-term technical assistance, as required;
- Ensure and maintain quality control for internal and external electronic communications and publications;
- Coordinate with program management staff to ensure ongoing effective utilization of an accurate and efficient system for storing program files, reports, documents, presentations, and outreach materials;
- Coordinate and collaborate closely with the USAID Tunisia team on all matters related to effective Ma3an communications.
- Engage regional and national media by responding to press queries, scheduling interviews, preparing event briefing memos for USAID and organizing press briefings.
- Ensure public outreach, documents and activities meet the requirements of the Branding and Marking Strategy, with reference to all USAID branding/marking requirements and security considerations;
- With assistance of MEL and program staff, develop graphics, maps, flow charts and diagrams for reports, presentations and handouts.
- Design and implement a comprehensive and sustained public outreach campaigns about qualitative improvements in positive youth development through Ma3an program activities.
- Keep senior project management apprised of activity progress and carry out other technical, program or senior managerial tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Responsible for providing support on FHI360 public outreach activities, including, but not limited to, strategic planning and capacity building activities, at the request of the Ma3an COP.
