Job Title:                                  Grant & Contract Assistant

Department:                            Tunisia Field Office

Immediate Supervisor:        Program Portfolio Manager, AMIDEAST Tunisia

Location:                                   Tunis, Tunisia

Position Summary:

The Grant & Contract Assistant works closely with the Program Portfolio Manager to ensure high-quality and timely implementation of all grants, especially US Government grants.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a thorough understanding of all grants in the portfolio, including their purpose, terms & conditions, budgets, relevant counterparties, and reporting requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support to managers of grant-funded programs
  • Liaises with the relevant US Embassy Tunis and Libya External Office staff on any program related activities.
  • In close collaboration with program managers and the finance department, ensure that grant budgets are spent accurately and within the specified timelines.
  • Compile financial and narrative data to create periodic reports in English for submission to donors and counterparties.
  • Holds bi-monthly meetings with Director of Programs and Country Director to provide updates on the status of all donor-funded programs.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, develops budgets for new and proposed activities.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • A BA in international development or related field. 
  • Previous experience or understanding of the educational NGO sector in the Middle East. 
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in project management and planning, financial management, program monitoring, and report writing.
  • Familiarity with USG contracts and grants regulations and processes.
  • Experience with preparation and management of budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with partners/clients and local staff.
  • Masters degree preferred. 
  • Previous work experience in the Middle East
  • Professional proficiency in Arabic and French preferred
