The Heinrich Böll Foundation (hbs), a German non-profit organization seeking to promote democracy, civil society, equality  and environmental justice is offering the following position for its Tunisia office in Tunis:  

Accounting Officer :

Under the guidance of the administrative & finance coordinator, the accountant will ensure correct accounting of  expenditures and audit the vouchers of partner´s financial reports in accordance with hbs´ financial rules and regulations.  You will be one of the two pillars of our finance department.

Tasks and Responsibilities :

Bookkeeping and maintaining detailed records of all financial transactions in an organized and professional manner, including electronic and hard copy files. 

Review financial reports and support documents submitted by partner organizations or activities related to hbs  programs making sure that administrative & financial rules and procedures are being followed. 

Scanning and uploading financial & support documents into Docuware (cloud for internal on time auditing by the  Headquarters). 

Interaction with the foundation’s internal audit service and application of recommendations and corrective measures. Prepare Banks and Cash-on-hand monthly reconciliation. 

Prepare final annual and internal quarterly financial reports by specified deadlines.  

Prepare the annual external audit and respond to queries by the audit team.  

Prepare accountancy, tax and social declarations & Certificates for relevant authorities. 

Perform others administrative & financial tasks as requested by the finance coordinator or the office director. 

Profile :

University degree in accounting, financial audit or equivalent. 

At least two years work experience in independent accounting position with advanced bookkeeping responsibilities. Experience in performing the annual closing balance and developing standard accounting reports (balance sheet,  income statement, cash flow). 

Work experience with financial reporting. 

Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, word, and electronic mail along with data entry experience) as well as experience with professional accounting software (Navision or similar). Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 

Ability to work in a team. 

Fluency in French and Arabic. An advanced level of English, particularly for the description of booking items is a great  advantage.
