BACKGROUND

The purpose of the $70 million USAID-funded Jobs, Opportunities & Business Success (JOBS) is to create jobs in Tunisia on a sustainable basis by (1) providing targeted assistance to Tunisian businesses, especially SMEs, to expand their sales and/or exports enabling them to expand and hire additional workers; (2) enhance work force development by reducing the education/training gap between what the university and vocational training systems provide and the actual needs of Tunisian businesses; (3) promote a more effective business enabling environment by working with the public and private sectors to promote policy and regulatory reforms; and, (4) communicate to Tunisians, especially youth, a sense of the importance of market-led economic growth and entrepreneurship, as well as vocational education as an apt career choice. JOBS also aspires to have project stakeholders and Tunisians at large understand and be aware of USAID’s contribution to these objectives through the JOBS project.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Accountant/Junior Accountant will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the project accounting and financial management. He/she oversees the processing of accounting transactions according to the general principles of accounting and adheres to the project’s policies and procedures.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and approve all new vendor creation entered by Operations, HR, Grants and Technical support teams with all supporting documents.
• Review all vendor invoices, leases, and subcontractor invoices and ensure that all supporting documents are provided corresponding to the standard and regulation
• Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation reports, for both bank accounts TND/USD.
• Review and process all consultant (approximately 25 per month) timesheets and accounting transactions entered by the accountant in coordination with the Technical Support teams.
• Review Expenses Reports of employees (approximately 50 per month) in the ERP System along with the supporting documentation and accuracy for expenses entered.
• Prepare the monthly finance reports to the HO in coordination with the Finance Director.
• Perform other project duties as required.

LEVEL OF EFFORT AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

This position is long-term assignment, on full-time basis.

LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The assignment will be in Tunis.

The Accountant/Junior Accountant will report to the Finance Director
