Yunus Social Business is a non-profit venture fund. We believe that business can be used to solve human problems. We turn donations into investments in social businesses that provide employment, education, healthcare, clean water and clean energy to over a million people worldwide.
Our social business venture fund covers 7 regions and our in-country teams run regular workshops and social business accelerators for local entrepreneurs. We invest in promising social businesses providing them with patient finance as well as long term business support.
YSB applies business approaches to the world of social development.
We use an innovative ‘Incubate and Finance’ methodology which bridges the gap between social businesses and philanthropic lenders and donors.
YSB invests in people, in their dreams, and in their abilities. We identify promising entrepreneurs who possess a deeply rooted desire to create impact within their communities through their social businesses.
In partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB), YSB Tunisia launched its operations in 2013, with the goal to promoting and creating an environment within which social businesses can thrive in Tunisia. In this context, Tunisia was the first in a series of African countries to replicate the social business concept.
Program IBDA
A two-month Accelerator Program, IBDA (meaning ‘start’ in Arabic), has been developed and launched in April 2014 in partnership withAfDB, and with the cooperation of Mazars Tunisia and Yale University
