Workshop on good governance in AL Salt governorate

 

Amman Center for Human Rights Studies (ACHRS) and Group of Civilian Volunteers (GVC), with the support from the European Union and in collaboration with the Mousa Al Saket Center for Development, organized a workshop on good governance, the role of the media and civil society institutions in the framework of good governance and the definition of advocacy campaigns for mobilization and pressure.

 

In particular the workshop took into consideration the definition of good governance and its core elements, such as transparency, accountability, consensus, equality, justice the rule of law, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness. Special attention has been drawn on success of advocacy and lobbying campaigns, the reasoning behind them, stages of mobilization and awareness-raising events, as well as methods of management of the campaign. The last part has addressed the difference between advocacy and media campaign and the use of media to generate awareness and boost ongoing advocacy campaign.

 

The workshop lasted for three days and addressed 30 participants from various civil society organisations in the governorate of Salt. The workshop was held in the hall of Musa Al-Saket Center in Salt. The trainings were conducted by lawyer Raed Al-Athamneh, together with trainers Mona Abu Hammour and Dima Arabiyat, graduates of the Jordanian Institute for Women Leaders (JIWL). Both of them have also successfully attended the training of trainers (TOT) in the field of good governance, within the scope of WeGov Project.
