Jordan Project Manager (consultant) – Amman

 

The Jordan Project Manager (consultant) will be based in Amman, Jordan for a full-time, 10-month position to start November 1, 2015.

 

The Organization

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC and Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. Summary of Position

SFCG seeks a professional, motivated, and creative project manager to manage SFCG’s new project from Amman, Jordan. The project manager will report to SFCG’s Palestinian country director and will cooperate with partners to continue a project designed to strengthen gender equality, enhance girl’s empowerment and build social cohesion through physical education and sports among Syrian refugees and Jordanian nationals within Jordan. Duties of this position include developing and implementing sports for peace programs that advance social cohesion among Syrian and Jordanian girls, building and maintaining relationships with SFCG partners, and fundraising for future SFCG projects within Jordan.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain strong relationships with international and local partner organizations and donors working in Jordan.

  • Perform general grant administration functions such as planning and managing project related expenses.
  • Lead overall project management, including designing and implementing the project workplan, tracking the budget, and ensuring the project sticks to its schedule.
  • Work closely with the MENA regional Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for regular monitoring of project activities and assessment of the overall goals of the project.
  • Support communication efforts to promote the project through social and traditional media.
  • Document project successes and write project narrative reports as required.

 

 As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in project management and conflict resolution.
  • BA required, MA preferred, in international relations, conflict resolution, Middle East studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, as well as the ability to conduct professional working relationships.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other software, as well as social media platforms
  • Experience in peacebuilding and conflict transformation
  • Experience in sports for peace and/or sports for development programs.
  • Familiarity with Jordan and ability and willingness to live in Amman, Jordan
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Written and oral proficiency in English
  • Spoken Arabic language skills are strongly preferred (conversational Arabic at a minimum)
