The Organization

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC and a European office in Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict – away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. The project

In Tunisia, SFCG’s CVE approach promotes local research and information-sharing on the drivers ofviolent extremism in order to enhance community relationships with local authorities and securityforces, promote alternative narratives, and strengthen ties at the community level to advance youth andwomen’s roles in building resilient communities and effectively countering and preventing extremistrecruitment. The project supports community-led approaches through reflective learning, monthlydialogue sessions, and local sub-grant initiatives for more effective and participatory CVE strategieswhich are tailored to the six targeted communities' context: Ben Gardane, in the governorate ofMedenine; Sidi Hassine, in Tunis; Sahline, in Monastir; North Bizerte, in the governorate of Bizerte;and finally, Kasserine and Siliana in their eponym governorates.

The project aims at increasing the ability of vulnerable communities to prevent and counter violentextremism in Tunisia. We seek to achieve this goal by promoting the following specific objectives: 1) Increase the engagement of diverse stakeholders (including civil society, youth,women, religious leaders, schools and universities, local governments, and the police and army) incommunity-level dialogue to identify push and pull factors for Tunisians tosupport violent extremism and 2) Strengthen the capacity of diverse stakeholders to implement initiatives within theircommunities to counter violent extremism

Summary of Position

This position will be a support function to SFCG’s program in Tunisia. The position will be responsible for project programmatic and administrative oversight, including program reporting, logistics, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The position will work closely with SFCG’s country director and director of programs, Finance and Admin manager, and all other relevant program staff in the country. In addition to capturing results and contributing to program implementation, the position will require representing SFCG with governemental entities, local government bodies, civil society organisations, security entities, other partners, donors and externally. The position holder will be supervised by the director of programs, and will work regularly with SFCG’s MENA Team. The incumbent will travel for approximately 70% of his or her time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the overall project management, including the implementation of the project work plan and tracking the budget;
  • Coordinate all project activities and ensure that deliverables are met;
  • Assist with the sub-granting scheme including planning and managing project related expenses in coordination with the project team;
  • Handle the logistical arrangements for orientation session, shared-learning sessions, joint dialogue activities, workshops, seminars, exchange sessions and retreats;
  • Assist in drafting contract agreements with consultants;
  • Be the focal point with the local authorities and central governmental authorities for the project needs and activities
  • Be the focal point with project partners, local associations, grass-root organisations;
  • Ensure a regular and prompt follow-up with the project steering group;
  • Assist with the communication plan for the project including regular production of information note/report for management and for the donor;
  • Participate to all meetings related to the project, both internally and externally;
  • Assist with documenting project successes and contributing to writing the project narrative reports as required;

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

 

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Tunisian nationality required
  • At least two yearsof experience in project management and working with civil society organisations in Tunisia or in North Africa;
  • Bachelor degree in international relations, conflict resolution, Middle East studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Tunisian context and the MENA region.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, as well as the ability to conduct professional working relationships.
  • Interest in community dialogue, countering violent extremism, radicalisation, community resilience building, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasmwhile working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
  • Written and oral proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other software, as well as social media platforms.
