Classification : G5

Type of Appointment : Special All Inclusive Contract, six months (the first three months are considered as probation period). The tenure of contract of internal candidates holding Fixed Term contracts will remain unchanged.

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

Context :

The Migration and Development (M&D) Program Assistant is to participate at the organization and development of activities within the Migration and Development Program Unit, to ensure the achievement of IOM objectives, to promote activities and to contribute by means of knowledge, experience and abilities to the strengthening of IOM’s professional capacity.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, and direct supervision of the M&D National Program Officer, the Program Assistant will perform the tasks described below.

Core Functions / Responsibilities :

  • Assist in implementation of “Education, Training and Knowledge-Sharing on Migration in Tunisia”, and of the country-level activities of the IOM/UNDP global Joint Mainstreaming Migration Program, including but not limiting to assisting with preparing, organizing, and implementing projects activities;
  • Assist in conducting research and assessment work, particularly in view of programmatic and project-specific funding opportunities;
  • Assist with drafting, new project proposals and initiatives in the migration area in Tunisia, by inter alia collecting, organizing and analyzing information in support to project development;
  • Assist in preparing of relevant reports, publications, presentations and other information materials, analysis of information for the purposes of the project etc., in cooperation with relevant officials at IOM Tunisia, project partners and other IOM missions involved;
  • Provide necessary assistance in developing linkages/strengthening cooperation with counterparts;
  • Maintain regular working relations and communication on projects issues with national migration related agencies and institutions, international organizations, NGOs and other project partners;
  • Assist in fulfilling internal procurement and other administrative formalities in order to provide support to programmatic activities;
  • Assist in the organization and participate in meetings with government, nongovernmental and UN agencies/institutions, inter alia taking minutes of the meetings, brief notes/notes for the file;
  • Assist in, including from logistics perspective, organization of seminars, trainings,press conferences and other events on matters related to migration and development in Tunisia Assist in the functioning of the M&D Projects’ respective Steering Committees, led by IOM and Government and comprise of relevant project partners (Donors, national authorities and international agencies);
  • Assist in organizing aspects of new country projects as well as in monitoring and backstopping ongoing activities;
  • Assist with developing contracts, experts ToR’s, agreements and other related documentation;
  • Assist international and local experts commissioned by IOM Tunisia for the purposes of the project;
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • University degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Political & Social Sciences, Law or development or a related field with minimum five (05) years of relevant professional experience including 2 (two) years in a development-related field and training in project development, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Knowledge of migration issues and regulations of Tunisia, work experience in project implementation, budget drafting, research and report writing is a major advantage. Practical knowledge of and experience in the use of the MS Office package.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic, French and English
