Position summary 

ETTYSAL is a Youth Opportunities program designed to address the drivers of radicalization at the community level in Tunisia, specifically targeting youth, ages 15-25 at high risk of joining VEOs, with micro-level interventions. Cognizant of the significance of parental engagement and generational family connections in preventing radicalization, ETTYSAL will leverage family influence by building community capacity and partnerships for family-centric interventions to identify and modify the behavior of youth at high risk of joining VEOs. The program will establish an at-risk youth referral network comprised of youth services providers to refer 300 youth in Manouba and Kasserine for risk factor assessment, of which approximately 100 will qualify for family-centric interventions led by ETTYSAL certified family counselors.

The Family Counselor Coordinator will coordinate a team of 10 family counselors. The Family Counselor Coordinator will ensure proper utilization and administration of the risk factor diagnostic tool, provide guidance, technical backstop to the Family Counselors under his/her charge. This position will also provide guidance, counsel and referrals for services to families within the program’s targeted localities. This position reports directly to the Chief of Party.

Supervisory responsibility  

The Family Counselor Coordinator will be in charge of supervising the family counselors.

Primary responsibilities 

  • Lead the identification of 10 family counselors for the program.
  • Responsible for the coordination of 10 family counselors.
  • Acquire intimate familiarity with the risk factor diagnostic tool and provide guidance and technical support to the family counselors in managing a caseload of 10 families
  • Ensure proper utilization and administration of the risk factor diagnostic tool.
  • Provide guidance and counsel, and along with project partners, provide referrals for services to families within the program’s target localities.
  • Manage the relationship between the project and service providers.
  • Develop a training curriculum for practitioners on family-centric interventions.
  • Build the capacity of local partners’ staff to use the curriculum, and support them in training the first cadre of Family Counselors.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Additional duties and responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with family counselors, local partners, and other project stakeholders.
  • Remain abreast of all project developments to be able to provide quality information and reports upon request.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all the models and approaches used in the project.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelors’ degree in social work, psychology, sociology, international relations, political science, or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience
  • Experience working with youth and marginalized populations
  • Experience working with families and youth
  • General administrative experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organized, attentive to detail, able to work under pressure and prioritize tasks and Proficiency in English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in a second language such as French [DESIRED]
  • Previous work with youth and marginalized populations [DESIRED]
  • Previous experience working in USG-funded projects. [DESIRED]
  • Understanding of USG rules and regulations [DESIRED]
